For the first time, a place was located where explosive material was stored that could presumably be used against personnel and vehicles destined for the destruction of these laboratories.

A cave and four clandestine laboratories, which were used for the production of synthetic drugs, were located and dismantled by personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy in the town of Carricitos, in Culiacan.

The operation was carried out by elements of the Mexican Navy, in coordination with personnel from the Attorney General's Office.

First, a cave was located in the laboratory area, inside which material was found that could be used to manufacture explosive charges, as well as mines and explosive devices with a possible destructive capacity to affect vehicles with high levels of armor, among which 50 (fifty) kilograms of dynamite, among others, were found.

In a second event, four clandestine laboratories were located and dismantled, where approximately 8,620 kilograms of presumed methamphetamine were seized, practically in the finished process.

In addition to approximately 6,550 kilograms of substances and chemical precursors for their possible elaboration, being one of the most relevant findings this year.

The Semar added that a variety of material for the production of synthetic drugs was also seized.

The following is the official statement by the SEMAR through the Mexican Navy;

  1. August 3, 2023, is the first time dynamites are seized near culiacan and I could be wrong in the state of Sinaloa.

    Cartels seem to be stepping up their effort in guerilla warfare.

  2. This is definitely not the first time that a place storing explosive material belonging to a cartel has been found. On June 13, the National Guard found a cave that was being used by a cartel to store 40 explosives in the state Aguascalientes.

    1. There was also that one time in October of last year when the military found a total of 90 explosives that were being stored in a stolen car that a cartel had tried hiding in a wooded area. This happened in Michoacán. And, I also remember the military raiding a CJNG safe house last year in August, and finding a total of 60 explosives. This happened in Guanajuato.

    4. He said near culiacan. Everywhere there's a mining industry there's explosives. People have commonly stole it or other explosives over the years. It's not uncommon for employees to steal it. Happened in the u.s. many many times. I'm sure most criminal groups in mexico have it, but don't use it commonly because it may bring international attention. With the exception of the groups intensively fighting & constantly trying to one up each other.
