It was the Fifth Collegiate Court in Administrative Matters of the Third Circuit that issued the sentence that modifies, discharges, and protects, so the three bank accounts BBVA Bancomer (4152-3129- 1327-6041) and Santander (56-69700667 and 5579-1001-4960-2060) of the former official were released and he was able to dispose of his money after three years.

In the resolution issued by the judge, it is noted that the blocking of resources requested by Santiago Nieto Castillo -then head of the UIF-, was not at the request of the DEA as reported.

The foreign authority in charge of carrying out Operation Agave Azul only requested assistance and information in support of a money laundering investigation without "this translating into an express request to block the complainant's accounts, as it is left to the discretion of the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit," reads the document.

It was last June 22 when the former municipal president of Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos was notified by the General Director of Litigation of the Financial Intelligence Unit that he had been removed from the list of blocked persons within the system of said Secretariat, and therefore the blocking of three bank accounts was canceled.
