Tijuana Mayor Accuses Peso Pluma and Fuerza Regida Artists of Sinaloa Cartel Ties & Possible Money Laundering

The Mayor of Tijuana, Montserrat Caballero, pointed out that there are indications that Peso Pluma and Fuerza Regida have links with the Sinaloa Cartel, specifically Los Chapitos. She asked the Attorney General's Office of the State of Baja California to investigate those possible ties and for money laundering.

This was after recent concerts were canceled in Tijuana after several narco mantas threatening the singer and banda in separate incidents were placed around the city, signed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

"These two singers sing expressly to a criminal group, I think we have to put on the table why one criminal group and not another. They sing to the Sinaloa Cartel, why their preference?" the Mayor questioned in an interview with Joaquín López-Dóriga for Grupo Formula.

During a meeting with the media, Caballero also pointed out that the cancellation of both concerts could have been due to a decrease in tickets. Ticket sale drops could have been a result of the fear of violence or risk of cancellation from the narco manta threats.

"We did not suspend the concert, although it is true, that the groups did not achieve high sales, I do not know if for that reason they canceled because there are two groups of promoters who cannot [sell[ more than 10,000 tickets, that is already true. We collaborate because that situation caught my attention," she commented.

Fuerza Regida announced the cancellation that the concert in Tijuana had to be canceled "for reasons beyond their control," and they thanked their followers for their understanding.

Mayor Caballero reiterated that it is necessary to carry out investigations into what the promoters of both artists are doing, whether they have committed money laundering and whether they have links to organized crime.

"They could have links, I say it and I assure you, that the Prosecutor's Office intervenes and investigates," stated the mayor.

She stated that is necessary that they investigate Peso Pluma and Fuerza Regida because it is not the first time that the artists have performed there. "No threat has ever been presented against them before."

"I do not evade my responsibility, they [3 Men] are already detained, linked to a process for terrorizing citizens. Since we have received all kinds of artists and never have those problems," she stressed.

Likewise, she said that it is necessary for the Chamber of Deputies to regulate narcocorridos due to the violent lyrics they have. Corridos and reggaeton were recently outlawed in the State of Chihuahua.

The Mayor of Tijuana put three questions on the table. Addressing authorities and requesting investigations, information, and legislation to regulate song lyrics.

1. That the Federal deputies regulate violent lyrics that are scientifically proven to generate violence. 
   
   
2. They investigate the promoters and how they manage their finances in terms of money laundering.
   
   
3. They tell which group they belong to criminals that I arrested.
