"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

On October 27, 2023, a family of five people from Colombia was kidnapped by a group of armed men in the municipality of Calera, located 30 kilometers north of the homonymous capital of Zacatecas.

The missing persons files of the two adults and three minors were released on November 2, 2023, by the State Attorney General's Office (FGJE), on its social network account X. In the case of the minors, the Amber Alert was activated. The institution asked citizens to report any information to the 911 emergency number.

Local media reported that the group of armed men entered the private home where the Colombian nationals lived and abducted them.

The records indicate that Yulieth Andrea Alfonso Alfonso, 36 years old, is 1.58 meters tall, has a thin face and dark skin. Jorge Alejandro García Villamil, 44 years old, is 1.70 meters tall, has small eyes and curly brown hair.

Both are the parents of three minors, identified as David Alejandro García Villamil, 3 years old, who is approximately 1 meter tall, has white skin and no distinguishing features.

In addition to Mia García Alfonso, 6 years old, who is 1.20 meters tall, has long brown hair and light brown skin. Finally, Daniel José Martínez Alonso is 11 years old, about 1.52 meters tall, with light brown skin and short, wavy brown hair.

On April 23, 2023, four members of a family of Colombian origin, who were traveling in an Toyota Avanza pick-up truck on a federal highway in Zacatecas, near the community of Sierra Vieja, died after being shot at by a group of armed men.

The events took place at kilometer 97 of federal highway 54, near the municipality of Villa de Cos. The spokesperson for the Zacatecas State Peace Building Committee informed that they received a report through the 9-1-1 Emergency System, informing that there had been an aggression with firearms.

Local authorities detailed that four people of Colombian origin died and four more were injured after the attack and were transferred to the General Hospital of Zacatecas for medical attention.

Also among the injured, all of Colombian origin, were two girls aged 4 and 10, as well as a woman and a man aged 31 and 32.

    3. Because you have a bunch of tweaked out adolescents doing the deeds they’re already dumb so killings kids is natural to them. Sounds like these parents put their children in harms way and it caught up to all of them. I think tortillas are worth more than someone’s life in Mexico. Never seen anywhere this violent and that means only other place we can compare Mexico to is Colombia back in late eighties and early nineties. Didn’t have shit on Mexico. 🇲🇽 and sad thing is Colombia had hope Escobar bit the bullet then Cali and the big cartels all get exposed and busted. But with Mexico you got cartel leaders been around very long time ain’t going nowhere. Cause they have protection from the highest officials. It’s repulsive and disgusting how the greedy gordo politicos sell the security and safety of the communities to the best paying narco. I say this get rid of the corrupt structures in the government and the cartels will fade away. Little by little they get busted and before long everyone is scared to traffic drugs because the government will catch you and throw you away. They do it over here in America all the time. Sure you get guys that still get away , but it’s only a matter of time. They all get caught. And all go to prison. Selling drugs is the worst crime to be sentenced for cause they give out decades.
