The deputy director of the Zapopan Police, Carlos Manuel López Amezcua, who was murdered this Monday morning in a cafeteria in the La Estancia neighborhood, had been with the police station for 27 and a half years.

Flores Amezcua was 47 years old, with 27 years, six months, and 12 days of service. At the age of 20, he began his career in the Zapopan Security Police Station and went through different operational areas.

"Good friend, he was reliable in his work, he worked very well, unfortunately we never knew that he had any call or any aggression towards him. Unfortunately, this happened because he was the commissioner in charge of supervision. I don't know what happened," said the Chief Commissioner of the Zapopan Police, Roberto Lopez.

From 2000 to 2005 he served as deputy commander and commander of sectors 1, 2 and 3.

The following year, in 2006, he became commander of the Jaguares Motorized Squadron.

His work led him, in 2007, to become Officer of Sector 3 (Las Águilas), where he was characterized by his closeness to the citizens and for having the recognition of different neighborhood associations of his sector, with whom he worked on different projects to provide more security to the residents of the neighborhoods of this sector.

At the beginning of the present administration (October 2021), he was promoted to the position of Commissioner, serving as Operational Deputy Director, the third in command in the police scale, with the operational code 1603.

Carlos Lopez is survived by his three children, two women between 18 and 20 years old, and a 16 year old man.

    1. Definitely Plata o Plomo. CJNG won't think twice about putting a hit on you. Especially in Zappopan. That's thier stronghold. Many of their top guys live there. They have hawks everywhere. In Zappopan they tried to pick up a rapper recently and when he resisted they shot him dead in his house. A female governor from a small town in Michoacan went to visit Zappopan and also got kidnapped. They know everybody's movements there.

      great comment!! keep them coming.

Also, similar to when the two Israelis got killed in CDMX woman acting as hitman or when Aristoles Sandoval was killed in PV it seems well coordinated.

  3. They had to have surveillance to know his schedule, cartels are to sloppy when making a hit, this has to be trained military personal brought in from a different state.

    1. It's not that complicated to kill someone, not getting caught is a different story.

  4. @7:08am How trained do you have to be to lay in wait and do a mag dump in somebody's ass? The barriers to entry for that particular job are as low as Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts.

  5. yeah it's really fascinating to read the difference in comments between 2010 and now, even up to 2014 or so. it's def. social media influence. Everything is about people picking sides. Binary, tribalism.

you had really respectful and thoughtful comments back then. Now, like 75% are people posting crying laughing emojis and trying to frame every incident as some kind of validation.

how cute do you need to be on this site?

been wondering about Lefty. The lack of coverage, the way it went down, WHERE it went down, suggests CJNG ordered it from a plaza boss level at minimum. Zapopan is wild. I had dinner at a place called Alcade in 2018 in that general area.

  6. I get the impression that before the rise of CJNG Zapopan was a kind of neural zone where guys from different cartels could own property, go and party, enjoy the good life and not have to look over their shoulders all the time. I wonder if there anywhere in Mexico like that these days?

    1. Guanajuato, Zacatecas, san luis, i know use to be like that a long time ago before 2008 and 2010 for gto. But as of recently i think Aguascalientes also just started getting sketchy but the authorities crack down hard on violent organizations so it stays quite for awhile. Its astonishing and messed up how so many regions of Mexico that once were calm have turned into execution fields. I call population control, and destabilization of Mexicos economy with all this violence that is permitted to happen by the government from foreign interest.

You have no idea,Mexico is still very insular, still has its culture, its national identity, want to see change,go to other countries and see the damage to cultural identity, but it racism when its white culture.Italy,France,Spain,U.K,Norway,on and on.Mexico is untouched in that respect

  7. This isn’t cjng affiliated. If they have zapopan on lock, this hit would’ve gone down quiet or just came up missing. People really think cjng controls gdl its a joke.

    1. 5:44 i mean guanatos is the 2nd biggest city in Mexico, that makes it easy for a bunch of cartels to go in and out unnoticed but if they get detected they will pay the price and im sorry to tell you but CJNG is incharge, not completely cause big cities like Guadalajara, DF and Monterrey will always have a few cartels working there but out of all those 3 big cities Guanatos is better controlled by CJNG than the rest, to put in perpective Guanatos and its sourrounding metropolitan cities have more people than all of Sinaloa put together
