A judge remanded Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, alias "El Nini," in custody for 60 days and ordered him to be held in the Altiplano prison, where he was transferred by helicopter.

Control Judge Gustavo Aquiles Villaseñor ordered that "El Nini" remain in preventive custody while the extradition request from the U.S. government is being formalized.

This afternoon, "El Nini" obtained a provisional suspension to avoid extradition to the United States.

The court granted the suspension ex officio and on its own motion so that the extradition of the plaintiff will not be executed until the jurisdictional body resolves the case.

After a two-hour hearing, Alberto Diaz Mendieta, Perez Salas' defense attorney, stated that the judge confirmed the provisional detention and said that he would not reveal more information due to legal strategy.

According to Proceso, at the beginning of the hearing, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) requested that the media not be present to avoid the disclosure of sensitive data provided by the United States.

A convoy made up of personnel from the National Guard, the Army, the Federal Investigation Agency, and personnel from Mexico City's Secretariat of Citizen Security left the North Prison, simulating the transfer of Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, El Nini, to the Federal Center for Social Readaptation number 1, however, El Nini was taken to the maximum security prison located in Almoloya de Juárez in a helicopter that departed from this penitentiary center.

  4. Hey just wondering, what happened to Chapo's escape tunnel at Altiplano? Did they build like a little narco shrine to Santa Muerte de la Sagrada Chingada and then seal it up? Or is the tunnel still open, maybe they offer experiential tours where you can ride a motorcycle just like Chapo's, spend the night in Chapo's actual cell, eat prison food just like Chapo ate, etc. Then buy Chapo-branded merch, pirated CDs of corridas, cartel cheerleader outfits, etc. at the gift shop. And of course, on the parking lot, perico bien barato. !No mames guey regalame cien gramitos o chinga tu madre! Just like Chapo used to do. LOL

  9. Nini was being hunted for months by the Mexican military as payback for ordering attacks on military installations during the first Culiacanazo.
