San Luis Potosí: The Grupo Escorpiónes Executes A Car Thief

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

Armed assassins from the Grupo Escorpiónes aka Scorpion Group appear on film during nighttime hours in a rural area. Front and center before them are a handcuffed male and a blindfolded woman. Both captives are on their knees awaiting their lot in life.

The interrogation with the ensnared male reveals the actions that have brought him to the end of his life. For the armed wing of the Cartel del Golfo stealing vehicles in the state of San Luis Potosi is heavily frowned upon. This 'rules for thee but not for me' bullshit was casually overlooked back in July of this year though.

Gumesiendo Perez Maya aka Commander Gumez was heard in an audio begging his operatives to bring him stolen trucks.

What became of the captured woman is unknown at this time.

Video trans,action is as follows:

Sicario: What’s your name?

Captive: Alejandro Correa Vargas.

Sicario: Where are you originally from?

Captive: I live on Calle Mixtecas 309 in the Ajusco neighborhood, Coyoacán district, Mexico City.

Sicario: What do you do for a living?

Captive: I am in the business of stealing trucks through interbank transfers without funds.

Sicario: What’s your modus operandi and who do you guys work with?

Captive: I operate with Coria. He contacts me through Facebook. Afterwards he invites me to whatever state or municipality to help out.

Sicario: How many vehicles have you stolen so far?

Captive: 14.

Sicario: Where all have you stolen these 14 vehicles?

Captive: In the states of Michoacan, Guanajuato. In addition here in San Luis Potosí, from the towns of El Mante, Ciudad del Maíz, and this last time was here in El Naranjo.

Sicario: This will happen to all the gang of thieves, extortionists, and prison staff who are committing these types of frauds within our assigned plazas. Sincerely…

Sicarios scream in unison: Cartel del Golfo, Grupo Escorpión!

    8. Wow, Grupo del Golf is very noble and does the job of the police for the police. Any past actions of CDG members stealing trucks was for charity and nothing more.

    13. You guys get it confused. Gumez wastalking to the guys of a car thief ring that operates for the most part in Texas. On top of that different plazas at times have different rules. In this case they're talking about the state of SLP. Sometimes even different distrects in the same plaza has different rules. For example, before Toro got killed, Panilos people and areas in Reynosa there was a no-no on kidnapping and extortion. But in alot of other parts of Reynosa it was happening. It isn't always the same across the board.

  4. On a somewhat related side note, this led to me to read about El Vaquero and his arrest.. when I noticed a peculiar note...

"Vaquero was arrested with an individual who was a former Zetas member and was actively working for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)."

I guess it is true, all the leftovers became/become the "King's" men...

    1. @3:36 hypocrisy aside, it or common practice for these groups to act as law enforcement in their territories. And, there are no true cartels in Mx if there ever was. Guadalajara is the closest they came.

  7. 1 shot? I'm shocked they didn't mow him down. Maybe they are broke and tight on ammo.

  9. He didn't deserve a bullet, but still a bullet is better than torture and cutting the body like in a butcher's shop.

  10. Sensing his death was imminent the victim gives his full name, home address and the city where he currently was at. Quick death with what seemed to be a close distance headshot.
