DeleteSol owns this site 😂 (still respect to the other contributors, I remember when he was just commenting and the OGs saw he was also an OG) but I gotta say Sol has been on fire for long now. Great writer and always real - much love from South Africa
ReplyDeleteBloomfontein? Karoo? Jo'berg? Curious
DeleteI think buchona might be Portuguese because you hear it more in South America than Mexico. In Colombia it is a word for a girl like bato is for a guy. It was probably imported from South America by Mexican narcos in South America and given a new meaning.
ReplyDeleteThank you senor Detroit for, the input you give the BB readers as, you are very well informed with the, experience in the issues, that are affecting the people of Mexico because, of narco president ELMO as he does, nothing for mexicans and pays the cayotero that will, probably call me names for defending you because I see, your expertise
Delete@3:48, Mr 313 knows his stuff because he’s an ex Fed Agent. So he’s probably listened to a bunch of wiretapped calls and got vital information
Delete@Detroit,
DeleteEtymologically, the word originates from a Spanish root word. Its modern usage, for those types of women, is strictly Mexican.

DeleteThirty or Forty years ago I was right in the middle of all of this stuff so I could make an educated guess about something I wasn't so sure of. Unfortunately, my information is badly outdated.
The cartels have fragmented and you have new cartels. The landscape in Mexico has become incredibly complex. I actually follow Borderlandbeat in order to try to keep up with the criminal landscape but unfortunately don't have the time to follow this issue as much as I would like. I also don't spend as much time in Mexico as I used to and now fly rather than driving a car or motorcycle, except in Baja.
I try to contribute when I can based on my past experience. However, I am out of touch with the current cartel landscape. Sol, Hearst, Char and the rest of the crew all have a better grip on the current situation than I do, so I depend on them in order to get a more complete understanding of what's currently going on. Fortunately, I have decades of past experience to build on. I add to their information based on my past experience when I believe it will help readers to better understand an article.
Detroit, your comments are always looked forward to in this house. I'm sure you've got mind blowing stories. In my opinion, you are an integral part of BB. Love and respect from Cleveland.

DeleteBuchona is just a material girl...any girl can have those characteristics..lmao
ReplyDeleteNah a buchona is different. Why??? Because of the taste in music. Buchonas like banda and shit like that and they tend to like men who are into narco shit. Material girls dont necessarily like that music. Also buchonas tend to have black hair and dark clothes. Huge nails and fake eye lashes.
DeleteI think it's just an updated version of what it's always been? Buchanan's is not even that popular anymore as a bottle or is it? Being a buchon since the mid 2000s meant any affinity for the Culiacan narco style and tastes of music.
ReplyDeleteExactly the word Buchon comes from Culican. The people from the sierra would come down to the bars in the city with stacks of cash from whenever they would sell their product. It all comes from the bottle Buchanan.
DeleteSol:
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are keeping up on the slang of the younger generation. I've learned that youngster slang burns itself out after a few years and no two youngsters agrees on what the term means. It's like back in the 60's, if you asked 10 different hippies what groovy meant, you got 10 different answers. When was the last time you heard the word groovy?
By the way Sol, I think you are farout and groovy.
Detroit - in the previous thread I asked about the meaning of buchonas, and you were right when you answered that Sol knows most.
DeleteThanks!
St. Louis
Never heard the term before but from your description, I can tell you that there are hundreds of these ugly creatures roaming the malls in Monterrey. I had a cute little niece that had all the surgeries you described. She is now grotesque. I told her that had she lived 100 years ago she could joined the traveling circus and worked in the freak show. That being said, most Mexican men find these puffed up things attractive.
ReplyDelete99% are actually Pueblodashians
