Unverified sources allege the arrest was carried out by the FBI, rather than the DEA.
Reuters writes that “sources” say that Mayo is in custody.
There are completely unverified claims (additional source) that Mayo was arrested alongside Joaquin Guzman Lopez, from Los Chapitos.

Both El Mayo and the other individual taken into custody were in plain clothes, but were accompanied in the aircraft by quite a few individuals in suits.

Its been obvious for a while that something's been going on behind the scenes. I thought Mayo was dead, and they were holding the news back. It must have taken so long to negotiate.
