4 Edomex Security Directors Arrested, Linked to CJNG & La Familia Michoacana

The August disappearance of the Director of Security of Temascalcingo, Agustín Oropeza Armendáriz,  has led to the capture of 4 Commissioners from the State of Mexico so far. Authorities have reported several are connected to organized crime groups, specifically the CJNG and La Familia Michoacana. One is said to have personally met with LFM leader "El Fresa."



So far, Luis Ángel N, Director of Public Security of Tlatlaya, Juan N, the Commissioner of Coatepec Harinas and Carlos Alberto N, Director of Public Security of Aculco, have all been arrested.


Luis Ángel is the Director of Public Security for the municipality of Tlatlaya and is accused of kidnapping that occurred on August 21, 2024 in Puerto Frío. In addition, investigations indicate that he also had meetings with one of the leaders of La Familia Michoacana.

“Intelligence information from the Attorney General's Office and SEDENA, obtained from various sources, established his close relationship with leaders of the criminal group with origins in Michoacán, particularly with José Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga, alias "El Fresa," with whom he frequently and ostensibly met, a subject who has a valid arrest warrant and the Attorney General's Office is offering a reward for his capture,” appears in the report from the Edomex Attorney General's Office.


Eulises N was arrested on August 8, 2024 in Jilotepec. Eulises was connected to CJNG, according to a report shared on September 2.



Juan N, Commissioner of Coatepec Harinas was also linked to La Familia Michoacana and accused of extortion against two merchants from whom he allegedly demanded money in order not to harm them.

"This individual is accused of having ties to the same criminal group with origins in Michoacán, to which the Tlatlaya Commissioner belonged," the report reads. This man is one of those already arrested.


In addition, the State of Mexico prosecutor's office reported that the Director of Public Security of the municipality of Atlacomulco, Justo N, also has ties to La Familia Michoacana and currently has an arrest warrant out to capture him.


The recent arrests are the result of investigations into the disappearance of the Director of Security of Temascalcingo, Agustín Oropeza, as well as his bodyguard Juan Carlos Zaldívar. Both were last seen in the area of ​​Los Sauces, in the municipality of Acambay.

After the disappearance was reported, security agents implemented an operation to locate him, but instead three people were released, in addition to four people being arrested, allegedly linked to La Familia Michoacana after a search in Acambay.
