Navy Secures Approximately 1.7 Tons Of Suspected Cocaine Hydrochloride Off Michoacan Coast

Navy secures approximately 1.7 tons of suspected cocaine hydrochloride off the coast of Michoacan

 


Mexico City, September 19, 2024. The Ministry of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, reports that personnel attached to the Fourteenth Naval Zone, based in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, carried out the seizure of approximately 1.7 tons of suspected cocaine hydrochloride, in the adjacent coasts of the state of Michoacán.


This action was carried out during maritime surveillance patrols, when Mexican Navy personnel aboard an ocean patrol with the support of a Defender type vessel, found 74 packages floating in the sea, containing 1,480 brick-shaped packages inside, weighing approximately 1,745. 20 (one thousand seven hundred and forty-five point twenty) kilograms of the presumed illicit cargo, which was handed over to the competent authorities for the integration of the corresponding investigation folder. 


These actions are part of the maritime, air and land surveillance operations carried out by the Ministry of the Navy through the Mexican Navy in Mexican marine areas, in order to guarantee and maintain the rule of law at sea.
