An undetermined group of criminals subdued eight people, six drivers and two security guards to flee in an unknown direction with six gondolas loaded with gold, silver, zinc and lead concentrates, each weighing approximately 40 tons, on federal highway 54, near the community of San Tiburcio, Zacatecas.

The attackers attacked the drivers and two private security agents who were guarding the convoy.

They then unhooked the trucks' gondolas and presumably transferred them to other tractor-trailers, with which they fled in the direction of the port of Manzanillo, Colima.

The Mesa Estatal de Construcción de Paz reported that the tractor-trailers carrying the minerals had left the Peñasquito mine, the largest gold producer in the country, located in the municipality of Mazapil.

In a joint press conference, the Army, the National Guard, the Security Secretariat and the Attorney General's Office of the State of Zacatecas confirmed the theft, although they stated that the total value of the stolen goods has not yet been determined.

    1. Everything is down there…

Meanwhile, just one ton of gold alone is worth $78,000…. Notice how they don’t mention the value either lol…. If just half that load was gold, it’d be worth almost $9.4million…

Obviously gvt agents are getting a cut of the theft. No way 6 semis loaded with ore could not be spotted by the police as they made their escape. Perhaps, the Mayos needed the $$$ as war is expensive and will forego the substanially less protection $$$! If it wasn't Mayos it was whoever was recieving protection $$$.

A ton of 24k gold is about $80,000,000 not 74k.

    4. Actually this will decrease investors confidence in investing in Mexicos and therefore it would negatively effect the working class. Not a good look for Mexico 1137.

  14. 240 tons of concentrates (50% pure?) would need a serious smelting facility to produce actual ingots.
