Culiacán, Sinaloa.- As if it were a war zone, this is how agents from the State Preventive Police and the State Attorney General's Office describe the landscape when they went to the Tepuche mountain range, on the border of the states of Sinaloa and Durango, to confirm the discovery of six people dead from gunshot wounds, after a confrontation that lasted several hours or perhaps days between opposing groups days before.

The victims, who remain unknown at the Forensic Medical Service of Culiacán, Sinaloa, are six men, who were in an advanced state of decomposition, most of them were wearing tactical clothing and one of them a vest carrying long-range weapons, so it is presumed that they were members of a criminal cell that operates in the mountains of both states.

The report of the discovery was registered on Thursday afternoon to the 911 emergency service, where several lifeless people were reported in an area located near the town of San Cayetano, between the towns of El Guayabito and Los Sabinos, but because it was already very late and the security conditions were not the most favorable, the authorities decided to leave the exit for another day.

It was not until Saturday morning, December 20, when personnel from the FGE, the PEP and the National Defense Secretariat formed a convoy of units with several elements that left for the mountains of the Tepuche municipality until reaching the town of El Guayabito, where some residents of mountain communities near the site where the shooting occurred transferred the security personnel to the exact point where the bodies were, which was between the communities of Las Tranquitas and Las Juntas de San Ignacio.

During the trip, investigators, military personnel and police witnessed the presence of at least nine units that had multiple gunshot wounds, some of them completely burned and among which were double-wheeled SUVs that were on the side of the road and which showed that in that place and for several kilometers there had been a strong confrontation between rival groups days ago.

At the scene of the discovery, the six bodies of the men were located, in an advanced state of decomposition. According to experts, they had probably been dead for around five days. It is presumed that they were all placed in one place intentionally so that the authorities could confirm the facts and take them down to the state capital to carry out the required tests and so that in the next few days they can be claimed by their families.
