"Socalj" for Borderland Beat
President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico struck a deal with the Trump administration to delay stiff tariffs, which were set to take effect on Tuesday, for a month as the two countries reached a series of agreements on border security. Sheinbaum agreed to deploy 10,000 additional troops, who President Trump said would be designated to stop the flow of migrants and illegal drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border.
President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico said that the 10,000 Mexican national guard troops being sent to the border would be pulled from other parts of the country and would be in addition to security forces already there. She said it was important for “humanitarian” reasons for Mexico to help control the flow of fentanyl into the United States, and she said there was a plan to deploy the troops immediately.
In return, Mexico will get at least a temporary reprieve from the blanket 25% tariffs Trump announced on Saturday, as well as help from the US government to stanch the movement of guns back over the border, Sheinbaum said on Monday. “The United States is committed to working to prevent the trafficking of high-powered weapons to Mexico.”
President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico called her deal with the Trump administration — averting tariffs for a month and cooperating to curb the flow of drugs and weapons — a “good agreement.” She also said she had told Trump about the Mexican government’s new campaign to discourage its people from using fentanyl: Posters and digital billboards have recently appeared across the country contrasting images of despair with family scenes and urging Mexicans to “Choose Happiness.” With a smile, Sheinbaum said Trump had said of the campaign, “Send it to me.”
“Sovereignty is not negotiable,” President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico said in closing at the news conference. “An indisputable factor is the dignity of the people, of the nation and sovereignty. And within this framework, agreements are reached.” Officials in the room applauded.
The agreement, two days after Trump also announced tariffs of 25% against Canada and 10% against China, came amid fears that the measures would disrupt the global economy, roiling stock markets around the world.
The peso and Canadian dollar, which had declined against the U.S. dollar because of the looming threat of tariffs, started to recover today after Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico’s president, said tariffs on goods from Mexico would be delayed. The peso has regained all of its losses since Friday afternoon.
Mexico’s economy minister, Marcelo Ebrard, said the U.S. economy depended greatly on the plants and industrial complexes that American companies have established in Mexico. He recalled that the chief executive of Ford recently told him that his two most productive plants were in central and northern Mexico.
“It is in the strategic interest of the United States that this integration is not only maintained but grows in the coming years,” Ebrard told reporters.

And everyone was saying that the Lady President would not deal with the US. She has no choice, MC will lose more than they can afford if they don’t toe the line.
ReplyDelete1059 Canada wont toe the line. It will be tough for a few years but in long run its better for Canada. We have the 4th largest proven natural resources in the world and we have 40 million people in our country. We will never be the 51st state .
DeleteTrump folded quickly, he didn't keep his promise of high tarrifs.
DeletePresident trump doing more in 2 weeks than that old corpse we had in office for the past 4 years.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Jalisco last month, GN was everywhere in the city along with the federal police
ReplyDeleteBut in the sierras I only saw GN convoy roll through the little town
Two .50 Cal mounted but the punteros didn’t seem to care
On my way out of the airport , GN was checking passports and looking for someone on my flight or something, they were scanning passengers and checking passports but when I showed my US they just waved me away.
We’ll see how that goes cause a lot of the GN are a bunch of fraudulent corrupt mfs
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to mention where claudia sheinbum also told president trump that they need to crack down on arms trafficking into mexico. Mexico will do its part in mexico but america needs to do there part in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteThat part was mentioned.

DeleteDon't forget again...it's gun traffickers, that bring in guns, and rifles into Mexico, not the USA. Trump should tell Sniderbaum to man check points going South, so weapons don't make it in.
Mexicans have complained about this for years, it’s an embarrassingly false equivalent .
DeleteOne would think putting Mexican military along the border would stop or minimize illegal activity like drug, human and weapons smuggling but they’ve NEVER deployed their military to guard the border because Mexican politicians, police and military officers are completely corrupt and receive their share $$ of every illegal alien, drug and weapons shipment they allow in and out of Mexico.
Most guns are smuggled through ports of entry where corrupt Mexican border guards allow through. And most of the weapons used by Mexican cartels are weapons sold to them by the Mexican military. I’ve seen them using guns unavailable and illegal in American armories.
BTW…firearms are LEGAL in the United States, it’s our constitutional right.
Mex President Jewish background helped get this deal done. She has U.S. Jewish contacts, they all stick together.
ReplyDeleteIncorrect.. negative.
DeleteThank the Sinaloas for sending the illegal drug trade to shit. 1st they started the wars all over Mexico and destabilized their trade and never won anything, 2nd they introduced fent and got Mexico into all kinds of shit with the USA ,basically getting the borders closed.

They did not introduce fentanyl lol do some research dumbass
DeleteCartel cheerleader the first cartel was the GULF cartel. Second Sinaloa did start expanding but like all empires they fall. This the end of drug lords it’s not 1800s where cowboys can do whatever they want. Cartels are going to be extinct by the end of 2030. Find another job cry baby
DeleteThis is making history, Trump got tired of when weak AMLO, would say cheesy stuff, hugs not bullets, oh there's no fentanyl produced in Mexico, lol now that tartiffs were threatened, Mexico sends troops, to watch the border!!!
ReplyDeletelmaoo history of what? fighting with your allies and making them enemies in the future.... sure buddy
DeleteEl trump trai bien enpinada a sheibum, después de ver como se enpino al petrito de Colombia quien sigue dice el viejo que me los enpino a todos
ReplyDeleteSinaloa
ReplyDeleteSpecifically IVANS crew took to too far
This is true, not that they could have known but fentanyl changed everything. Cheap pure meth was manageable
And no one had an issue with cocaine post 80s as far as deaths or nationwide Heat
But fent was many steps too far.
Anyone seen James Brown?
ReplyDeleteHe was depressed one time or another.
Hope he is doing well.

DeleteFunny af people that believe Trump did something. Mexico had previously placed soldiers at northern border and even replaced customs agents with soldiers. Makes no difference. I thought tariffs were meant to bring jobs back to the US. Another trump lie lol bunch of idiots that suck him off.
