CDG Chismes: The Lastes Upticks

By Itzli.

Here we are for our third installment of CDG chismes, where I break down the latest online news, rumors, and gossip about the Cártel del Golfo (CDG, Gulf Cartel) and try to put it in context. I had planned on doing these periodically as I felt “needed” but I definitely didn’t expect to write another one so soon. Let’s dive in.

Maps

Earlier this week MennyValdz, who has not only been active on Twitter for over a decade but is behind two blogs: "EPOCAVIOLENTA" SabiaCalle and BITACORA EPOCAVIOLENTA aka Menytimes Blog, posted a couple of maps that I wanted to share.

The San Luis Potosí map is an update to a map he published in December 2023 and when it’s all said and done not much has changed with the exception of the diminished power of Los Alemanes and a bit of expansion on the part of the CDG Matamoros Faction/Los Escorpiones.

Then there’s the latest version of Tamaulipas, updating maps from January 2024 and December 2023. Is this 100% accurate? Most likely not but it definitely gives a perspective to consider.

CDN & Metros Fighting

With the end of the ceasefire between the Los Metros Faction of the CDG and the Cártel del Noreste (CDN) there have been new videos of fighting between them. There’s not much information on that one, but this one is said to have taken place between El Nogalito and Los López and supposedly two armored vehicles from the forces of “Galleta” from Miguel Aleman won against eight CDN armored vehicles. Another allegedly took place in Los Guerra with it said that Los Metros are also making incursions into Los Aldamas, which has been controlled by the CDN.

Government Operations

On Monday, March 24th several roadblocks popped up around Diaz Ordaz when government officials got into a shootout with Los Metros under the command of “El Pirata” and his right hand man, “El Cherry”. Seven armored vehicles were seized in the operation and there were claims that “El Pirata” was killed but it was later said that this was false. The real name of “El Pirata” is said to be Jaime Peña and he was recently mentioned as head of plaza in Diaz Ordaz; back in April 2023 he was described as being in charge of trafficking migrants in Miguel Aleman.

One or two additional operation took place against Los Metros: a report on March 25th stated that five vehicles, three of which were armored, were seized in Reynosa and a report of eight vehicles, three of which were armored “monstruos” were seized just west of Reynosa, which appears to be a general staging ground for operations in Diaz Ordaz and Tamaulipas/Nuevo León in general.

A major drug bust took place in San Fernando, with it reported on March 26th that 215 kilograms of methamphetamines was being shipped from Jalisco to McAllen, Texas. That same day it was reported that three vehicles were seized in Valle Hermoso and from the pictures it looks like one was an armored “monstruo” and another was in the process of being constructed.

Río Bravo

In my first “chisme” article from the end of February I mentioned how there had been rumors of a ceasefire being negotiated between the Matamoros Faction and Los Metros. I guess I missed it going into effect because a number of people are mentioning it online recently and the reason is several days of activity in the Río Bravo area as the Matamoros Faction is apparently targeting Guardia Estatal (GE) forces.

Gunshots were reported in Río Bravo on Sunday, March 23rd but it was rumored that it was actually some drunk members of the GE doing it. The next day a convoy of cartel forces was reported heading toward Nuevo Progreso from Canales. That evening the GE was attacked between Río Bravo and Matamoros and thereafter cartel forces dropped road spikes throughout the area, including Nuevo Progreso, Rigo Tovar, and Lucio Blanco. It was later said that cartel forces had been attacking GE forces arriving in Río Bravo that apparently had not been corrupted. Blockades occurred on Wednesday night, March 26th, including Lucio Blanco, as cartel forces traveled the area. A major storm system went through the area on Thursday, March 27th and a lot of flooding occurred so we should expect things to calm down for a bit.

Allende-Linares

Okay, I’m getting bored with my own article so let’s get to the good stuff that made me want to write in the first place. When we talk about the CDG we usually focus on Tamaulipas and it’s only been fairly recently that I’ve brought up the northeast part of Nuevo León. One thing that gets overlooked all too often is the cartel activity southeast of Monterrey, particularly in the stretch from Ciudad de Allende to Montemorelos to Linares

Back in the spring of 2023 it was said that Allende was where members of Los Metros would hide out. In July of that year Linares, which lies on a migrant trafficking route from Matehuala, San Luis Potosí to Camargo/Miguel Aleman via China, Nuevo León, became a battleground as CDN forces under “Comandante Pollo” began attacking the Fuerza Civil there, having linked up with “La Cotorra”, a former member of the Sinaloa Cartel that operated in Galeana. It appears that the CDN was contesting control of Linares with the San Fernando Faction of the CDG which is made up of Los Sierra, Zetas Vieja Escuela (ZVE), and Los Panteras. In November 2023 the San Fernando Faction is said to have sent forces from Méndez, Tamaulipas to Linares and several locations in northeast Nuevo León. Similarly, a convoy of “monstruos” being sent to Linares from Burgos and San Fernando were said to have been spotted in Ejido Lucio Blanco, Tamaulipas in July 2024, apparently to reinforce fighting against the CDN under the command of “Franky Esqueda”.

In September 2024 the CDN seems to have added forces to Linares as well as Hualahuiches, Montemorelos, and General Teràn. Around this time it was said that Operativa Fénix of Los Metros was operating in Linares and Jose “El Zombie”, who operated in this area, fell on November 20, 2024. Two weeks later, 9 members of Los Metros were arrested in the area. On January 12, 2024 the mayor’s office in Galeana was shot and roadblocks appeared along with trailers set on fire between Linares and Hualahuiches. Thereafter, it was reported that “El Cotorra” had been killed

It was reported that last week a convoy of cartel gunmen attacked police officers in Allende and on Saturday, March 22nd seven members of Los Metros were reported to have been arrested in Linares. That evening it was reported that cartel members attacked officials in Allende and Linares. On Monday, March 24th an armed clash between cartel gunmen and the Fuerza Civil in Montemorelos was said to have left eight dead. The following day word spread that the rural town of Raynoes, Nuevo León was being abandoned over the past two weeks due to cartel violence.

Return of Los Fresitas

Okay so we’re up to speed, we have an area of Nuevo León that has been contested by the CDN and Los Metros/San Fernando Factions of the CDG for quite some time but here’s where the gossip gets juicy, members of Los Fresitas are allegedly involved in the latest “uptick” of violence in the area.

Back in April 2014 a conflict in Tampico was just starting which would lead to the formation of Los Rojos, also known as Los Fresitas, under the command of R1, Silvestre “El Chive” Haro Rodriguez, who was arrested in August 2015 and his brother R2, Antonio “El Toñin” Haro Rodriguez, who was arrested in April 2016. Since then Tampico has been under the control of R3, Héctor Crescencio “El Teto” de León Fonseca but here’s the thing, in Mexico you never know when people are quietly released from prison.

Guess who’s back? In October 2020 it was said that “El Toñin” had been out of jail since mid-2018. In October 2019 a person claiming to be the daughter of “El Chive” implied that he was either out of jail or would be getting out soon. In July 2021 it was said that the brothers were wanting to overthrow R3 and rumors that “El Chive” was being backed by someone in the CJNG. In October 2022 it was claimed that “El Chive” was in San Luis Potosí, in February 2023 it was said that “El Toñin” was fighting the CDN in Los Metros territory, and in December 2023 that they both were “flirting” with Los Metros.

This all ties back to the attack on police officers in Allende last week. The rumor is that “El Toñin” was behind it and is being backed by the CJNG, which was echoed again on the 27th. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for confirmation.

Odds and Ends

I already wrote an article about this so I won’t rehash everything but CDG Matamoros Faction cell leader José Francisco “Alfa 1” Contreras Gómez that operated in Guanajuato and Querétaro was arrested last week. He was on my radar when I wrote part 13 of the CDG Matamoros series and I’ve tried digging into his arrest in 2008 but haven’t had any luck; I’m really curious where it took place and if he was presented as a CDG member then.

Same goes with the death of Mario Armando “El Pelón” Ramírez Treviño, it was awesome that Char got the scoop and pushed me to help write up the news before any other media reported it.

That’s it for now so let’s get the conversation rolling on the comments or feel free to hit me up at itzli.borderland.beat@gmail.com

  2. It seems that the clashes between Metros and CDN are on fire right now. Strangely, no reports of Escorpiones vs Metros clashes. Maybe a secret ceasefire is going on between Matamoros and Reynosa factions. If the maps are right, Matamoros is the one with more power right now and maybe its better for Metros to fight CDN, which is weakened. Good one Itzli. Nice amount of graphic material as well.

    1. Can you not read? Itzli said clearly in this article and the last article that there was a supposed ceasefire between Matamoros and metros.

    2. 9:01 If i'm saying what i said it's because i read the article alucin. No one can state 100%, not even Itzli, that there's a real ceasefire going on. The lack of clashes go that way of interpretation, but unless you got a real proof we are all speculating here.

That's right, if you dare to challenge the veracity of a story, you should be sent to Guantanamo or CECOT, or maybe there's a permanent solution for the wiseguys that don't wanna be sheep 🐑

  5. With all of this activity on the ground and all of the confrontations going on why doesn't GE call in for air support from the Mexican military? I'm pretty sure that there's military bases in these states near by. It would be easy to shoot these guys from helicopters equipped with high caliber machine guns. They used helicopters to kill all of the BLO leaders in Nayarit about seven years ago. Juan Francisco Patron Sanchez H2 and his henchmen got blasted from the sky. Why have these black hawk helicopters if they won't use them. Just collecting dust like my old comic collection. Nuff Said!!!

  7. The only ones acting like a real Cartel is the Metros the other gangs are acting like what they are, gangs, i guess Don Menchos blessing is enough to make you a real Cartel, now a days there is only one Cartel, the rest are gangs of drug addicts, CDG is no more and CDS is no more either 🤣

    3. 7:28 thats how a real cartel acts, you cross the thin line and you get dealt with, Escorpiones on the other hand can do as they wish cause there is no real top guy, its a bunch of gangsters fucking up with normal people for the fuck of it, if you are in their territory might as well just flip a coin and get robbed if you are lucky

    4. 8:59 🤣 after CJNG took all of those plasas from CDS? Is like you having 100 control of your house and your man taking that control from you and you bearly getting 30% back of the control, plus CDS is no longer a cartel 😭 sad news for you but it is what it is, once the money to pay the government runs low cause of the war, MFastso and chapuzetas are gonna turn into a bunch of thiefs it will take a few years but thats gonna happen 100% guaranteed, we are already seen it on the amount of car jackings going on in Sinaloa 😂 RIP CDS & Gilbertona

    5. 9:47 besides Jalisco what other plazas did cjng take from CDS and still kept in 2025 ? One thing is to take and keep than to take and lose them . CJNG couldn't even handle the Zambada side of CDS.

    6. 9:24 Contador alongside Cardenas family are in command of Escorpiones where primito might be in charge of metros but you always hear of how split they are amongst themselves because they don’t all want to be bending over for CJNG

    9. 🤦🏻‍♂️ there are no “cartels” in Mexico. Acting like a “real cartel” would first require you to be… a cartel.

      Delete
    10. Now let me help you poor folks out and then you can make your case for exactly which DTO in Mexico is a “cartel:”

“A drug cartel is a criminal organization composed of independent drug lords who collude with each other in order to improve their profits and dominate the illegal drug trade. Drug cartels form with the purpose of controlling the supply of the illegal drug trade and maintaining prices at a high level.”

Repeat after me: there are no “cartels” in Mexico.

    11. 2:44 🤣🤣🤣 stop it, it wasnt the Durangutanes who stoped CJNG from taking all of Zacatecas, it was the government, but still south Zacatecas is CJNG

    13. 5:24 how did cjng take most of Nayarit from BLO ? Through fighting ? LMAO nah government got it from them . You just mad all the top CJNG comanders couldn't do shit . Besides nochistlan that is basically across Jalisco what other plazas do they own in the state? Villanueva Zacatecas fell last week to la Operativa MZ. All the remaining CJNG hitmen escaped before the topon began. Now it's a straight shoot to Jalisco. Also la Operativa MZ took la sierra de Nayarit from Jardinero so stop it girl

      Delete
    14. 7:48 ok let me see where should I start
Nayarit- was mainly a BLO plaza . Yes CJNG is the stronger cartel in the area but recently lost la sierra like Huajicori and Acopaneta and other towns to MF. Not to mention the route from San Blas all the way to Sinlaoa is MF control. MF is even in Tepic the state capital .

Colima - a supposedly stronghold for CJNG but yet Manzanillo is half CJNG half CDS-MF (06)

Aguascaliente - all the mayor cities are MF. The small ranches are under CJNG. The governor is 30's mistress (CDS)

Veracruz- has always been mostly a CDG and Zeta plaza. But CJNG and CDS are there too .

Cancun - has always had all cartels and even forgein mafias in it. But the strongest groups are CDS and CJNG.

Chiapas - the only reason why CJNG had a presence was because El Señor de los Caballos flipped to CJNG along with his plazas whenever Guero Pulseras was named jefe de plaza in the whole state over him. But he got pushed so far south to the southern border with Guatemala that they are going by Cartel de Guatemala and Chiapas now. All those Kaibiles that he hired got slaughtered.

So my question again what plazas did they take and really keep. TJ? For a few years maybe whenever CTNG was around but the brothers (CDS) are the big dogs now.

Zacatecas - yeah let's not even go there lol

Jalisco? For the most part yes but basically CJNG owns all state level government there but still can't take out Mario.

      Delete
    15. 9:2 at the end of the day CJNG didnt have precence in those areas and now they do, Facts are facts, and now that there is no more CDS its only gonna help CJNG, maybe your little heart still has a little hope that the ex CDS are gonna become friends again but sorry to tell you, thats not happening, CDS is done, just CDG, Guadalajara, Juarez, AFO, Milenio, even Z's, but dont worry CJNG is next, they will end up just like CDS fighting each other, it might take a little while, but their time will come

      Delete
    16. 6:00 look at a map the way CJNG has been on the decline for a few years now . CU has them on the michoacan Jalisco border . MF has them on the Zacatecas Jalisco border and on the Nayarit Durango border and Nayarit Zacatecas border and on the Jalisco Zacatecas border so I would be worried about your heroes getting closed in in their own state. Sorry little buddy CJNG had is time . Seems like this administration favors someone else.

    19. 12:43 CJNG still can't take michoacan after years of war if anything CU is is hitting them in Jalisco now. In GTO they couldn't finish the Marros and now Marros are taking territory back . Lost TJ . Lost parts of Nayarit. Lost the war in Zacatecas and Chiapas. A few of their cells flipped on them in Tabasco Queretaro Veracruz Morelos to name a few. If that isn't a decline idk what is lol

      Delete
    20. Non bias view point. All cartels are in decline at the moment. No boss is safe MF IAG or Mencho the Mexican president most appease Trump. Unfortunately if you had to crown a bigg boss it would be CJNG just look how Los Cuini didn't get extradited. that should tell you who's really in charge. And the fact that Menchito didn't snitch tells you Menchos alive. Little nayarit boy calm down on the MZ propaganda no ones drinking that.

  10. So let me get this straight .
Seems like MF won the war against CJNG in Chiapas and Zacatecas.
Seems like MF might come on top on the war in Sinaloa against the Guzman family.
His Lts Aquiles and Rana seem like the strongest in TJ .
Has his Sonoran border well protected with Charly and Gigio
Is currently frying to enter Chihuahua and is getting heavy resistance from La Linea and State Police and now they just called out Chapos CDN and Metros in Nuevo Leon.
Seems to me that theory of his organization being the chosen one under Claudia's term might be true.

  15. CDN is getting weak and restructuring once again with a young Treviño taking over again. CDG Matamoros have push to link up but the Treviños won't accepted because it makes them look weak in there mind. Matamoros will eventually take over Nuevo Laredo again. People in Nectar Lima are tired of always being at war and never at peace like Morros or Rojo. The CDN internal war just started with the Treviños vs Treviños vs CDN Colonias Bosses. These plaza Bosses will accept & jump to Cardenas Cartel (CDG Matamoros). Z40 & his family giving orders to take out El Tartaz & ratting out Ricky made lots of people mad they were super Respected and loyal. The crazy part for CDN those who have turn away from CDN already were the once with American Military Training who were high ranking within CDN.

    1. Appreciate you writing all this, actually been something I've been thinking about, I'm not all that plugged in on CDN but for a while now I've felt like you can look at the whole history post Z-42 as a slow drawn out fight for control between Juan Francisco's kids and Ana Isabel's kids.

    2. The Zs that weren't with Cuarenta pre CDN days were guys like Mellado/Hummer/Flander 1/even Ardilla.
40 was always scared of Hummer/Ardilla. Wanna say Ardilla dated 40s ex & he was always pissed because of that.
Also Hummer was the only person I ever heard that actually puta gun to 40/42s head when they had 1 of hummers guys ina warehouse because he had lost a load.
Even Mamito had a bad experience with 40 when he took his horse Tempting Dash when he had already called/paid for it.
When Z3 was still alive 40/42 were somewhat in check by lazca & his close guys ie Hummer/Ardilla/Pepito Zarabia/Rana etc
All of them were kept in line/feared by Lazca.
He was pretty nuts everyone would say, I knew one his relatives. Saw him at a wedding in monclova as well. Back then it was scary seeing military looking guys drressed in all black openly carrying their guns. Everyone always figured they were ejercito/marina as they dressed the part/were an exact match like arturo Z1. until that corrido by beto came out escolta suicida/cocodrilo graduado really set it in stone. People were really shook then and they were kind of admired.
It was always rumored that El meme locos escape was done by the Zs, same ones beto made those 2 corridos on & people all theoughout valluco were shook. Noone had ever seen nor heard someone get rescued before. They tried but failed with el licenciado adan javier medrano back in the day.

40/42's downfall was being too greedy & wanting everything for themselves.
40 wasa real dumass thinking his horse operation wouldn't be major red flag in US. Guess he figured it was as easy as Mx? He should've known he use to be in Dallas wayyy back. Wven his older beother was sentenced 25+ yrs in US. Guess the power got to his head like it did to Hummer in Reyno when they caught all his guns & cash. PS he hada little over 1Millon in the house they arrested him in. Marina stole thats shit lol. Couldn't steal all the guns though.
They beat the shit out of him a bit too.
He would get coked out & block streets when he was in Puteros like el Black Cat in Moros. Lazca would go too. God help you if he saw you ina hummer as well lol.
Hummers halcones ended up stealing his remaining propertys/even his gf. Pase got to him.
