US Transfers 13 Drug Traffickers Serving Prison Time Back to Mexico

"Socalj" for Borderland Beat

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs with the assistance of the Department’s Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) transferred 13 Mexican nationals, serving prison sentences for drug distribution-related convictions in the United States, to their home country on Friday.

The names of those prisoners transferred back to Mexico hadn’t been made public yet but we will be updating as soon as possible.

The inmates requested to be transferred to their home country, and the governments of both the United States and Mexico approved these transfers.

“Friday’s transfer of 13 federal inmates to correctional authorities in Mexico has saved the United States over $3 million by eliminating the need to pay incarceration costs for the 75 years remaining on their combined sentences,” said Matthew R. Galeotti, Head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.

All 13 inmates transferred last Friday were serving sentences relating to the distribution of controlled substances, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. The inmates will complete the remainder of their sentences in Mexico pursuant to the treaty.

“The Justice Department’s International Prisoner Transfer Program, which is administered by the Criminal Division’s Office of International Affairs, enhances offender rehabilitation, reduces incarceration costs, and relieves overcrowding in federal prisons. The transfer is pursuant to the Treaty between the United States of America and the United Mexican States on the Execution of the Penal Sentences.”

The U.S. Congress enacted legislation authorizing the International Prisoner Transfer Program in October 1977, which also set the requirements of the transfer program. The United States signed its first transfer treaty with Mexico in 1976, which entered into force in November 1977, and since that time has entered into 10 additional bilateral transfer agreements and two multilateral transfer conventions. These international agreements give the United States transfer treaty relationships with more than 85 countries.

Nope, that's not 006, that's some new kid who only posts comments so he can say "ipsation".
Possibly a cousin or somehow related to the "Waffles" boy who has been lurking around lately.
Every Koo Foo and his brother have been showing off their obsessive compulsive tendencies lately, this has been going on for ages, they usually go away if ignored, or they reach their 18th birthday, whichever comes first..

    1. He has not been in BOP custody since October. Likely still in protective/US Marshal custody. The 13 all were already serving federal prison terms/had been convicted here.

    2. It seems contradictory to extradite over 30 Mexican nationals to the US and then return to Mexico 13 others.

  4. Trump wants to start deporting American citizen criminals to the El Salvador prison. He is looking for a loophole in the law to do this. Maybe if he designated the Mexican Mafia as a terrorist organization then he might have the federal might to do it. La Eme controls our American prisons because of our soft laws and human rights violations laws. If deported to El Salvador prison they would be finished. The sureno gangs in southern California would all be freelancers. No more kick backs to the old dinosaurs in prison. Nuff Said!!!

    1. Sounds like a good idea, but most of your sureño type prison losers are U.S. citizens, and no wishing or hoping, nor flamboyantly signed presidential proclamation supercedes the American citizens owners manual, the United States Constitution!
      Nuff Nation Nicky!!!

    2. Trump has actually been deporting less than Biden and even less than the king of deportations, Obama.

      Delete
    3. He won’t do that cuz then he would have to do it to the mob and we all know trump has ties to the mob and he’s buddies would end up in cerotelandia

    8. 1107 Mexican government won’t stand for that! They’ll have a plane there in El Salvador the same day and transfer Mexican prisoners to Mexico! Just like they sent a plane to Israel when that war broke out! And El Salvador will comply with mexicos demands or they will suffer repercussions consequences! All the cerotes crossing thru Mexico and living in Mexico will suffer for starters! But it won’t happen, Mexico and USA cooperate and have agreements regarding Mexican criminals and other important matters such as no death penalty if extradited to USA! Now as far as American born la eme/surenos going to cecot? Well that just depends if Trump is able to get away with crossing that line on sending American criminals over there!

  8. The United States should charge Mexico for every penny spent on investigating, arresting, trial, defense and incarcerating their citizens including restitution to the American public for their crimes against our citizens and our country!

Enough is enough, we have millions of foreign criminals victimizing our citizens and abusing our compassion.

  14. Joaquin Guzman made a dating escape from the "inescapable" supermax in Florence MONTHS ago.
The U.S. feds are shuffling paperwork to cover-up their incompetence, hoping that they could catch him again before word leaked out.
